Reflection on online learning

Assalamualaikum and a very good day to readers. After 5 weeks of lessons, we were asked about our experience regarding online learning. For someone who has been experiencing online learning since the fourth semester of diploma by online distance learning, there is a lot to talk about.

From my experience, online learning means that learning by using the online platform. Where educators use online programs to teach students and also assess them.

To start, there is quite a number of perks. One of them is the fluidity of learning. By using online learning, I was able to learn or take classes and do tasks anywhere I am. I could also use my mobile devices, such as smartphones, personal laptops, and even tablets. This helps me to be able to not feel stuck learning in the same room, same class, same place every time. Secondly, there are diverse types of programs that I was able to use and learn from. Some of them such as Kahoot, Canva, and etc. This does not just help to increase my ability in my hard skills. Furthermore, I also become more ready to try new things. As lecturers had to give tasks and assignments by online platforms, I was confused at first as to how to do it, but in the end, it all works great.

On the other hand, there were also some cons to online learning. One major difficulty is bad internet connection. As the place that I am currently learning is in the suburbs, internet connection could become a hassle sometimes. Even during live online classes, there would be some disruptions that caused the class to be lagging, stuttering, and sometimes even disconnected. Plus, some online programs could also be so hard to learn. There are a couple of programs which does not have clear instruction and even the designs of the programs are too messy to understand.

In a nutshell, online learning is probably one of the main ways of learning moving forward in the future. For great online learning, I hope that more instructors and students are able to use online programs and understand how to use them. I also hope online programs will be more user-friendly and easier to understand.
